Home.
As children, we were taught that home is four walls, a floor, and a roof over our heads. We would create a drawing of our home, along with a bright yellow sun and freshly cut grass on a piece of paper to represent what home looked like to us.
But what happens when our definition of home changes?
What happens when we move away from our childhood home, when someone dear to us moves away, or when we accept a life-changing opportunity that asks us to explore an unfamiliar place to begin a new chapter in our lives?
When our definition of home changes, so do we. This is when we realize that home had never been simply our place of residence—home had always been ourselves.
To cultivate a home within yourself means to create a space where you love yourself for who you are in that very moment. A place where your imagination and dreams do not feel so small and have the opportunity to come to life. A place where you welcome those that also share the compassion that you have always given out to the world.
I hope you welcome the change that arrives in each season. To find love for every piece of you that has always deserved kindness, even in the midst of hardship. The seasons allow us to understand ourselves a little better than before and will always help lead the way wherever we may go.
