Grief finds its way to visit us in times that we least expect it to. It visits us in times where we feel the happiest yet wish that the person we lost was right there beside us, experiencing everything our heart was feeling in that very moment. It visits us in times where hope swallows us whole from the true facets of reality, longing for the potential a connection had so that the narrative was changed for good. It visits us in times where we reminisce about the pieces of our past, questioning whether what we did then was worth it for where we are now.
We make the decision to let go of someone, knowing that pain from the loss will follow. As we move forward, we continue to experience new milestones in our lives. These milestones trigger emotions that were tucked underneath our hearts, revealing the love we thought was lost from the connection. It reveals love that had always been there but was buried underneath the pain that accompanied the hurt we felt throughout the waves of grief. We may find ourselves questioning whether we had ever succeeded in the process of moving on all along.
Grief is unpredictable and will never follow a linear path. It will always come to find us, regardless of how much time has passed or how much distance exists. Despite the inevitable pain and hardship that accompanies grief, I hope you choose to welcome it with open arms. Your vulnerability is something to embrace and challenges you to heal better than you did before.
Grief is only love in disguise, revealing your good intentions from the very beginning in your heart. With the love that resides within your heart, I hope you learn to find forgiveness for the person that once held a place in your life. The art of forgiveness will always be the way for you to set yourself free, so that both of you will receive the love that you deserve.
Despite your best efforts, you did all that you could within a connection given the circumstances. I hope you know that what is meant for you will never pass you. The waves of grief reveal the capacity you have to love deeply and signifies the beginning of a journey for yourself. And when the day comes where you are healed better than you were before, you will be ready to welcome love with open arms once again.
